Tarpon Springs’ Adaptive Recreation programs enrich the lives of individuals with disabilities through social activities.
Adaptive recreation is committed to providing programs to meet the needs of people with disabilities in our Tarpon Springs community.
- Providing greater access to indoor and outdoor recreation pursuits.
- Educating individuals so they have the knowledge and skills to safely participate in recreation programs.
- Providing equipment and resources to help individuals achieve greater functional independence in recreational activities.
Tarpon Springs Adaptive Recreation provides therapeutically-based recreation programs for people with cognitive and physical disabilities that expand their access to opportunities that promote physical fitness, health and wellness, increased self-esteem, and greater functional independence.
Individuals of all abilities are welcome to partake in adaptive recreation including but not limited to brain and spinal cord injury, cerebral palsy, cystic fibrosis (CF), epilepsy, multiple sclerosis (MS), muscular dystrophy, down syndrome, developmental delays, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), blindness and low vision, hearing loss or deafness, and/or sensory processing disorders.
