Threshers Baseball Game
A warm Florida evening, the hum of the crowd, and a ballpark full of more than 100 smiling HUG friends set the stage for another unforgettable night of connection and community. With complimentary snacks in hand, a whole section ready to cheer, and HUG energy filling the stands, the recipe for a home-run event was already in place.
Dozens of HUG friends arrived right back at the BayCare Ballpark for an unforgettable evening of baseball, laughter, and connection. Everyone excitedly gathered to cheer on the Clearwater Threshers, the Single-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, as they took on the Daytona Tortugas. This marked HUG’s sixth consecutive year attending a Threshers game—an annual tradition made even sweeter by the incredible stadium staff who welcome the HUG community with open arms year after year.
As guests arrived, the HUG registration table buzzed with excitement. Each attendee checked in and received their admission ticket along with a food voucher, good for a classic ballpark combo of a hot dog, a bag of chips, and a soda at the Home Run Grille. With snacks in hand and anticipation high, friends made their way into the stadium, ready for a night of fun.
And Section 104? Let’s just say they had no idea what was coming their way.
HUG friends filled the section with full hearts, loud cheers, and nonstop enthusiasm. From the very first inning, the energy was contagious. The wave was rocked (multiple times), “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” was sung at maximum volume, and HUG cheers echoed throughout the stadium. It wasn’t long before the Jumbotron took notice.
The crowd went absolutely wild when HUG friends were featured on the big screen—clearly the videographer couldn’t get enough of the group. Cameras caught smiles, dances, and celebratory moments that later even made their way into a local newscast (HUG ambassadors are always ready to spread the love).
Naturally, the Threshers beloved mascot, Phinley, also took notice of all the HUG friends and came over to take plenty of iconic photos.
Adding to the fun was a brand-new HUG twist: a selfie challenge! Friends were encouraged to snap and send in a few photos, whether it was enjoying ballpark food, posing with a new friend, or soaking in the game-day vibes, to earn a special HUG hat pin. The challenge sparked connection, creativity, and plenty of camera-ready moments throughout the night.
Between innings, friendships grew stronger. Everyone oohed and ahhed when John and Cassandra met for the first time (what a beautiful HUG love story), new conversations sparked, and familiar faces reunited—proof that while baseball brought everyone together, connection was the real win of the night.
And as for the final score? Honestly… not a clue. What everyone does remember is the laughter, the cheers, the shared snacks, the Jumbotron fame, and the overwhelming sense of belonging that filled the stands.
By the end of the night, voices were hoarse, hearts were full, and Section 104 had officially become the loudest, proudest spot in the ballpark. Once again, HUG turned an ordinary baseball game into an extraordinary night of community.
It’s never just about the event. It’s about showing up as yourself, cheering loudly for one another, and creating memories that stick long after the final inning. And if this night was any indication, nights with HUG are always a grand slam.
