Event Navigation

Great Explorations Children’s Museum in St. Petersburg is a fun place for children with special needs and disabilities to play in an interactive social experience. We accommodate children with special needs, including, but not limited to, Autism, Asperger Syndrome, Down Syndrome, Tourette Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy and all Cognitive, Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.
.
Great Explorations Children’s Museum is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that has served the children and families of the Tampa Bay area since 1987.  Designed for children 10 and under, the 24,000 square foot museum is filled with exhibits and activities to stimulate learning through creativity, play, and exploration. The museum is a learning playground where children can make a discovery, make a mess, and even make a new friend.
.
This AAM–Accredited children’s museum also offers a national award-winning preschool, camps, field trips, and community outreach programs.
.
This AAM accreditation is the highest recognition for a museum and signifies excellence to the museum community, donors, outside agencies, and to the museum-going public.  Great Explorations is the first mid-size children’s museum in the country.  The museum joins the ranks of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Salvador Dali Museum, Museum of Fine Arts, and the Indianapolis Children’s Museum.
.
Great Explorations was co-founded in 1986 by the Junior League of St. Petersburg and Hands-On! Inc. In March 2003, the museum relocated to its new 24,000 square foot facility located next to the historic Sunken Gardens at 1925 4th St N, St. Petersburg, FL 33704.
