Disability and Environmentalism Earth Day Screening
April 22 @ 7:30 PM - 10:00 PM
Event Navigation

This Disability and Environmentalism Earth Day Screening is hosted by Yes! of America United, Inc.
Event Description
Join us at the historic Tampa Theatre for a special Earth Day event celebrating the intersection of disability and environmentalism!
Thanks to our presenting sponsor, CARD—the Center for Autism and Related Disabilities at USF—this event highlights the often-overlooked perspectives of people with disabilities in the fight against climate change.
The event will feature Fulbrighter Jason Strother’s powerful documentary, Invisible Impact: Disability on Climate Change’s Frontline, which explores how climate change disproportionately affects disabled communities. Following the screening, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a Q&A session with the filmmaker, gaining deeper insights into the documentary’s message and the urgent need for inclusive environmental policies.
Finally, we will host a thought-provoking panel discussion on disability and environmentalism. Our distinguished panel includes Kyle Romano, a USF Honors College Professor specializing in disability studies; Jon Dengler, CEO of WellBuilt Cities, dedicated to sustainable urban development; and Rachel Lau, an environmental scientist and Fulbrighter to Nepal, bringing a global perspective on eco-advocacy.
This event is a must-attend for those passionate about sustainability, accessibility, and social justice. Join us in raising awareness and fostering meaningful discussions about building a more inclusive future for all!
