This sensory-friendly experience is hosted by The Florida Aquarium and Card at USF.
Event Description
Experience the wonders of the ocean in a comfortable and inclusive setting at Day of Discovery, a special event designed for individuals with sensory differences and their families. Hosted by The Florida Aquarium in partnership with the Center for Autism & Related Disabilities (C.A.R.D.) at the University of South Florida, this event creates a welcoming and accessible environment for guests who may find traditional aquarium visits overwhelming.
To ensure a positive and enjoyable experience, Day of Discovery features reduced capacity, modified special effects, and adjusted lighting and music to accommodate sensory sensitivities. The event provides an opportunity for children and families to explore marine life at their own pace in a calm and supportive atmosphere. Aquarium staff and volunteers are trained to engage with guests in a way that promotes comfort and accessibility, making it easier for everyone to enjoy the experience.
This exclusive event is open only to families and individuals with sensory differences and accessibility challenges, ensuring a judgment-free, stress-free environment. Day of Discovery is free for Florida Aquarium members and only $10 for non-members, offering an affordable way to experience the magic of the aquarium in a setting that meets the needs of all visitors.
Join us for the next Day of Discovery on Friday, March 28th, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM and immerse yourself in a sensory-friendly adventure beneath the sea. Whether it’s your first time visiting or a returning favorite, this event is designed to make aquatic exploration accessible, engaging, and fun for all. Don’t miss this chance to create lasting memories in a welcoming, inclusive environment!
