The Pinellas Public Library Cooperative, founded in 1989, is the first library cooperative in Florida, aiming to expand library services to unincorporated areas and municipalities lacking such services by fostering collaboration, resource sharing, and expertise among its member libraries. It manages funds, a shared automation system, material delivery, and collective purchasing for cost efficiency. Additionally, it operates the Pinellas Talking Book Library for the visually impaired and established the Deaf Literacy Center in 2000. PPLC also spearheads community partnerships, advocates for financial support, and markets library services to enhance the lives of Pinellas County residents.
